Monday: Work On Monday, most of us are back to work or school. Therefore, let’s start with some work-related vocabulary. “Job” refers to the work people do to earn money, while “career” means a lifetime of professional activities. “Salary” is the money paid for a job, often monthly or annually. Additionally, “colleague” is a person one works with, and “office” is the place where one works.

Tuesday: Hobbies Tuesday is a great day to talk about hobbies. A “hobby” is an activity someone enjoys doing in their free time, such as listening to music, reading, or traveling. A “pastime” is something people do to pass the time or relax, like knitting or playing video games. “Leisure” refers to the time when we are not working or studying, and “recreation” includes various activities for people to enjoy during their free time, like swimming or hiking.

Wednesday: Environment Let’s move on to some environmental vocabulary on Wednesday. “Environment” refers to the natural world, including the air, water, and land. “Pollution” is harmful substance or waste that contaminates the environment, while “conservation” refers to the protection and preservation of natural resources. Additionally, “ecology” is the study of the relationship between living things and their environment, and “sustainability” refers to meeting the needs of the present without endangering future generations.

Thursday: Emotions Thursday is a great day to talk about emotions. “Emotion” refers to a feeling or mood, like happiness, sadness, anger, or fear. “Sentiment” refers to a viewpoint, attitude or opinion towards something, while “mood” is a feeling or state of mind that can change over time. Additionally, “attitude” is a way of thinking or feeling about something or someone, and “personality” refers to the unique characteristics that make each of us who we are.

Friday: Food Friday is a great day to talk about food. “Food” refers to anything that people eat or drink to live, like fruits, vegetables, meat, and beverages. “Cuisine” refers to a style or type of cooking, like Italian or Chinese, while “recipe” is a set of instructions on how to prepare a particular dish. Additionally, “appetizer” is a small dish served before a meal, and “dessert” is a sweet dish typically served after the main course.

Saturday: Travel Finally, let’s wrap up the week with some travel vocabulary. “Travel” refers to going from one place to another, either for business or pleasure. “Tourism” is the industry of touring, promoting and arranging trips and vacations, while “destination” refers to the place someone is traveling to. Additionally, “adventure” is an exciting or unusual experience, and “sightseeing” is the activity of visiting famous or interesting sites or landmarks.
